eBay Selling by Parting Out

"The Sum is Greater than the Whole"

An old cliché that applies very nicely on eBay!

If you ever bought a car piece by piece it would cost you easily 10x the cost of the car alone. The same goes for many items on sale at ebay.

If you have any of the following (just from the Home & Garden Category) that are MISSING any parts:

Accessory Sets (home décor, bathroom, kitchen, clothing, etc.)
Bar Sets
Silverware
Aquariums, Other Pets
Tools
Carpet Machines
Etc.

You would probably check ebay for any replacements (or additions).

Now turn this concept around and imagine you being the supplier of those singular parts that make up the whole!

I now do this all the time. I'll buy an entire set of something that's missing pieces, or a piece of equipment (and everything that comes with it) that doesn't work. Then I break it down into it's individual parts and sell each one separately on ebay. The returns are several times what I originally paid - in many cases, just what
it cost to ship + the opening bid.

After all, for example, who wants a Knife set without the cleaver? That set is not going to sell for much because people looking for sets want the complete set.

However, how many people out there actually have those exact sets that are missing the carving knife, the paring knife, the honing rod, or even the block! You'd be surprised the lengths one will go to (pay) to complete their set, or replace that 50 cent part that's no longer available. You get the point.

Then, after doing a round of auctions on a set of parts, the rest is just repetition. Buy the same incomplete or broken item again, and just relist your old auctions - everything is already set up from before.
