VOIP Installation Tips
Most people, when they first get VOIP, are so excited to finally get it running they just plug their phone directly into the router and that’s the end of that. The computer is running on the internet again, and the phone nearby works just like it did before. Now, what about all the rest of the phones that used to work? Are they still connected to the old land-line service? If so, why did you get VOIP in the first place? If you have since dumped your land-line service now you’re stuck with a bunch of dead phones – but not so fast. You can easily fire all those phones back up with your new VOIP connection and leave them right where they are without needing any tools, extra parts, or even an electronics degreee. Just have the land-line phone company physically disconnect their line from the box on the outside. They must disconnect this line, not just ‘switch’ off your service. Now just connect the phone jack from the router to the nearest phone jack on the wall with the phone extension line supplied with your free VOIP router. That’s it! All phone jacks throughout the dwelling (or business) are now live with VOIP.
